The Christian Experience

“For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain” (Phil 1:21)

What experiences can a Christian have who is filled with the Holy Spirit and for whom Christ is everything? This is exactly what we see in Philippians, a letter of joy that Paul writes from prison after 4 years of captivity! Imagine that!

In chapter one verse 21, Paul says: "For me, to live is Christ and to die is gain" - That means: Christ is his whole purpose in life. Whatever Paul did, he did it in view of Christ.

In chapter two verse 5 he says: "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus." Here, Christ is our role model in the attitude that He has shown here in humility and obedience. The example we have to follow.

In chapter 3:14, Christ is the goal in glory. We are already reaching out to Him more and more. Because we want to get to know Him better and we want to enjoy fellowship with Him.

And in chapter 4 verse 13, Paul says: "I can do all things through him who strengthens me." Christ is the source of strength for every situation in our lives.

Purpose of life, role model, goal in glory and source of strength - Christ is all in all!
