God is for you
God is not only with us, but He is also for us! How do we know that God is really for us?
Because He did not spare His only Son, but He gave Him up for us.
Because Christ not only went to death, but God also raised Him up for the sake of our justification.
The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the indisputable proof that God is for us. That He is on our side, and that He means well with us.
What’s the consequence? Paul asks some pretty striking rhetorical questions about this: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Rom. 8:31).
If the great, almighty, sovereign God is for us and stands with us, then it is completely irrelevant who might rise up against us. We are on the side of the Victor! Then Paul goes on and says:
“He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will He not also with Him graciously give us all things?” (Rom. 8:32).
Because God is for us and because He proved it in the giving of His Son, there is no longer any doubt that God has only the best of intentions for us.
Only a few verses earlier in Romans it is aptly said, “And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good” (Rom. 8:28).
God is for us - therefore all things will be well!
Then it goes on to say in verse 33, “Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies” (Rom 8:33).
If we have been justified by the supreme Judge of the universe, then the devil can raise up as many demons and accusers as He wants. God's judgment remains steadfast!
Jesus Christ is our eternal security. He’s risen. He is at the right hand of God. And our life is hidden with Christ in God.
There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus! He is with us in His grace and for us in His righteousness!
Let’s continue. Verse 35: “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword?” (Rom. 8:35).
Again, the answer is obvious: nothing and no one can separate us from this love. Neither present nor future. Neither suffering, nor persecutions. Neither Satan, nor demons.
The strong and loving hand of our Saviour will not let us go, because God is for us!
