Chastening

Despise it not! Faint not because of it! The Lord loves those that are His, and because they are in filial relationship to Him He deals with them accordingly; therefore it is said,

“Whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth” (Heb. 12:6).

Endure it with confidence. Be exercised in faith through it. “Consider well” the One who endured the Cross.

Rich results to His honour follow—profitable participation of His holiness and the peaceable fruits of righteousness.
