The Father's Discipline

“Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it” (Heb 12:11).

My son do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
Nor be discouraged when you are rebuked by him;
For whom the Lord loves He chastens,
And scourges every son whom He receives.

(Hebrews 12:5)

My son don’t neglect my discipline
And don’t you lose all your joy
For when the father disciplines
It’s a father who loves his boy

(Psalm 119:67)

Before I got troubled, I was erring
But now I have kept your word
And I can see it was good for me
Your statutes I have heard and learnt

(Psalm 119:72)

Gold and Silver don’t compare to what you say
Your hands carved and molded me in every way!
those that fear you will be glad, when they see
That they can trust your word eternally!

(Psalm 119:81-85)

My soul is faint for your salvation
When will you comfort me
Feels like a bottle in the smoke
And a trap is laid out for me.

(Hebrew 12:2)

Look to Jesus see the things that he’s been through
When he saw the cross he was thinking of you
Despised the shame, endured the cross
For his joy to come should not be lost!

(Hebrew 12:11)

There is no joy in discipline
But soon to us it will bring
The peaceful fruit of righteousness
So lift up your hands an sing!

(Psalm 119:99)

All my teachers cannot teach me like you do
Tastes like honey when I’m listening to you
Your word is the only lamp to my feet
Lighting up the road in front of me!

The Lord gave me this song - and the experience to sing words which come directly from the Bible. It is wonderful to take the Word of God and make it your song.

He was a man of sorrows and aquainted with grief! He makes it very clear that those who want to serve Him will face tribulation. But He draws us closer to Himself - that is what really counts ...
