May the Mind of Christ...

Download

May the mind of Christ, my Savior,
Live in me from day to day,
By His love and power controlling
All I do and say.

May the Word of God dwell richly
In my heart from hour to hour,
So that all may see I triumph
Only through His power.

May the peace of God my Father
Rule my life in everything,
That I may be calm to comfort
Sick and sorrowing.

May the love of Jesus fill me
As the waters fill the sea;
Him exalting, self abasing,
This is victory.

May I run the race before me,
Strong and brave to face the foe,
Looking only unto Jesus
As I onward go.

May His beauty rest upon me,
As I seek the lost to win,
And may they forget the channel,
Seeing only Him.

Hymn Story:

“Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,” (Phil 2:5) challenges us. Kate B. Wilkinson thought on what it means to have the mind of Christ Jesus. To have the mind of Christ is to have Christ with His love "controlling all I do and say". That people seeing me, realize "I triumph only through His power". Mrs. Wilkinson also includes Hebrews 12:1-2 in her hymn: “May I run the race before me…looking unto Jesus”. We sing this hymn as a prayer, echoing Mrs. Wilkinson, as we also desire to be more like Him.

Let me say here the Spirit never occupied me with His work in me. And if I am thus occupied I am experimentally out of the Spirit. The word is, “He shall not speak from Himself.” “He shall glorify Me.” (John 15:5-15). To go further, the work of Christ, wonderfully blessed as it is can never be the object of my heart. It gives my conscience peace sweet peace, but only His Person can satisfy my heart. And Oh how His person does, ten thousands hallelujahs to Him!
